What Coaching with Me Looks Like

  • Find the courage to love and live again—with purpose

✅ A safe space to process what you’re feeling
✅ Practical tools to calm your nervous system + handle triggers
✅ Mindset shifts that move you from stuck to empowered
✅ A proven grief framework built on my TEDx talk

✅ A coach who’s walked the road and refuses to sugarcoat it

One Last Thing…

This isn’t therapy.

It’s transformation.

It’s practical.

It’s powerful.

It’s personal.

If you're ready to stop surviving and start building a life you actually want to live—

I’d be honored to walk that path with you.

The Problem with Traditional Grief Support

Most of what we’re taught about grief is focused on reaching “acceptance.” It’s about “getting by.”

But here's the truth:

Getting rid of pain isn’t the same as creating joy.

Imagine if mental health was displayed on a scale from -5 to +5.

Phil Cohen | The Grief Guy | Top Grief Coach

-5 = Crisis mode—grief, depression, anxiety, trauma.

0 = “I’m not in crisis anymore”—you’re surviving, but not really living.

+5 = Thriving—feeling connected, purposeful, alive.

Most therapy focuses on just getting people from -5 to 0.

In other words: “Let’s get rid of the symptoms and get you back to 0.”

Here’s the problem with that.

Let’s say you’re walking through your garden and all you can see are the weeds—everything that’s going wrong.

You get to work: pulling, trimming, clearing.

Eventually, you look around and say, “Okay… the weeds are gone. So why doesn’t this feel like a thriving garden?”

Because a weed-free garden isn’t the same thing as a flourishing one.

Fixing what’s wrong doesn’t automatically create what’s right.

The same is true in grief and life.

For decades, therapy and psychology focused almost entirely on treating the symptoms—like anxiety, depression, trauma, or addiction—getting people from despair to acceptance. From "-5" to a "0".

But healing doesn’t stop at zero.

A life without problems isn’t the same thing as a life filled with joy, meaning, and vitality.

This isn’t about ignoring pain. It’s about recognizing that there’s more to life than avoiding suffering.

Let’s not forget about connection, creativity, faith, love, and legacy.

That’s what my work is about.

Not just pulling the weeds. But planting what’s meaningful.

And tending to what makes life worth living after loss.

Common Myths That Keep People Stuck

Myth 1: If I fix what's broken, I’ll feel better.

Truth: Healing means more than symptom relief. It means rebuilding purpose.

Myth 2: Less stress = better coping.

Truth: Real resilience means learning to live with what's hard—without losing yourself.

Myth 3: I just need to focus on my weaknesses.

Truth: Strengths are your greatest asset—when you learn how to use them.

Myth 4: Time heals.

Truth: Time helps—but intentional effort is what creates transformation.
